A range of electrical facial methods are available to treat specific skin concerns. These methods can be used in combination or as a stand alone to optimise results.
Using these methods, Sibe will devise a customised skincare treatment plan to best suit your individual needs.
Galvanic electrical therapy uses a smooth-flowing direct current to prepare the skin for a myriad of skin benefits like softening tissues, softening blackheads, stimulating cells and driving ingredients deeply into the epidermis.
There are two different methods to Galvanic; Desincrustation (more suitable for oily, congested skin) and Iontophoresis (this allows for deeper penetration of active ingredients).
Desincrustation
For oily, congested skin
Used as a deep cleansing treatment for sluggish, congested and oily skin. The current is used to create a chemical reaction (saponification) on the surface of the skin that disrupts its PH balance to soften tissues, open pores, emulsify excess sebum and dead skin cells. The negative ionic current can be particularly helpful in destroying bacteria which will reduce both active and future breakouts.
Iontophoresis
Aids in the penetration of active ingredients
This treatment has a vasoconstrictive and calming effect on the skin and is helpful in the treatment of dry, dehydrated or compromised skin. It's benefits include:
Specific contraindications to Galvanic
Whilst this treatment is advantageous to most skin types, it is not suitable if you have received injectables or had a chemical peel, facial waxing or microdermabration in the past one or two weeks.
It is not suitable for those who are:
In addition, galvanic desincrustation is not recommended where inflamed acne, active rosacea or active pustules are present.
High Frequency electrical facial methods are an effective treatment for skin rejuvenation, healing and restoration of the skin's health.
All high frequency machines function by using a perspex electrode to treat various contours of the face. When applied to the surface of the skin, a mild electrical current passes through a neon or argon gas filled electrode, causing it to emit a subtle glow neon red/orange or violet/blue and buzzing noise.
There are two different methods of High Frequency; Direct High Frequency and Indirect High Frequency.
Direct High Frequency is an effective treatment for blemish prone skin. During the treatment, enriched oxygen molecules are produced to kill acne bacteria. In addition, blood circulation is increased due to the thermal tissue warming which in turn aides in detoxification, reduces the production of sebum, increases cell renewal and promotes healing.
During a Direct High Frequency treatment, an oxyginating cream will be applied to the clients face before covering it with a layer of gauze. The therapist will use a glass electrode through which the current will flow. This electrode will be passed over the client's skin in circular movements.
Indirect High Frequency is an effective treatment for dry, dehydrated and mature skin. The benefits of thermal tissue warming is increased blood circulation. Increased blood flow to the skin increases cellular turnover which leads to an increase in collagen and elastin production, the elimination of toxins, improved lymphatic drainage and a general improvement of the skin's texture and tone.
During an Indirect High Frequency treatment, the client holds an electrode to channel the current whilst the therapist carries out a face massage. The lighter the therapist's pressure, the more stimulation occurs. The client may experience a mild tingling sensation however this treatment is moreover a relaxing and soothing one.
Specific contraindications to High Frequency
It's important to note that a number of conditions exist where High Frequency facials are not suitable that include;
